I did a Q&A on my Instagram the other day – anything hair related! I got sooo many questions + couldn’t get to them all before the sticker expired so thought I’d try to get to as many as I could here! I’ll also include the ones I answered so we can keep track of them all here, together!

If you have any other questions be sure to leave a comment here or send me a DM!

WHO DOES YOU HAIR?
Evan Stowers. He lives in St George + comes to Sandy every 6 or 8 weeks to do hair!

WHAT TONER DO YOU USE WHEN COLORING YOUR HAIR?
I do NOT tone it. My hair pulls a pretty bright blonde as is, so we just use a purple shampoo after foils. Evan used
UNITE PURPLE SHAMPOO + at home I also like use this ORIBE SHAMPOO. Only use a small drop – this bottle is more expensive but has lasted me a few years. Don’t use purple shampoo every wash!

HOW DO YOU PREVENT YOUR HAIR FROM BEING DAMANGED?
I love to use a deep conditioning treatment. I used to always use
OLAPLEX NO 3, but just switched over to LIVING PROOF. I like the Restore Repair Mask, Intense Moisture Mask + Weightless Mask.

Tip : Before you get out of the shower ALWAYS hit your hair with cold water, for as long as you can stand before you freeze to death. Literally the worst way to end a shower, but it helps seal your cuticle up + really helps prevent breakage.

I also love using this detangler before brushing my hair – it’s what I use on Jack’s hair too when it get crazzzy tangled. Check those reviews!

WHAT SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER DO YOU USE DAILY?
My tried + true is
OLAPLEX No 4 + NO 5. I also just switched to VERB VOLUME SHAMPOO + CONDITIONER that you can find on amazon. Only put conditioner in the ends (towards mid but don’t put it in your roots).

I also just tried using Dae hair for the first time, by Amber + it’s insannnne. Guys seriosuly so good + the smell is ahhhhmazing! Everything she touches is pure gold. Add it to your collection for smooth hair that still has volume!

HOW DO YOU CURL YOUR HAIR?
I use
this straightener. Hoping to get a new tutorial up for my looser waves in the next week or two! Stay tuned on my Instagram.

I’ve been doing my hair different + having it be a looser curl. I think the secret is this BED HEAD AFTER PARTY. After you curl your hair, let it cool + brush it out, then add this to the ends where it looks dry + it smooths out fly aways.

tip : LET YOUR HAIR COOL WHEN YOU CURL IT! Do not brush or run your fingers through your curls until they are completely curled. This will help your curls stay longer.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU WASH YOUR HAIR?
I only wash my hair once or twice a week. I like to apply
dry shampoo (this one’s my favorite + it’s cheap) to my clean hair + it keeps it from getting greasy as quickly. I also spray it in every night.

WHAT ARE THE HAIR TIES YOU USE TO AVOID CREASES?
I sleep with my hair in a high pony or bun everynight. This also prolongs the curl. My favorite hair ties for helping my curl stay in – with no creases is
GIMME BEAUTY!

WHAT IS YOUR NATURAL COLOR?
I would guess a dirty blonde ??? It has gotten darker with age, but has always been kinda light blonde/brownish.

HOW DO YOU COLOR YOUR HAIR?
I asked
Evan himself for the process on this one – here was his response for the whole process :

“I use a color line called Jack Winn Diamond Lightener – it has an intense violet toner molecule in it that lifts + tones, with 15 volume working 20 volume.

I wait until the blonde is pale yellow (shade of the inside of a banana peel) + then pull the foils. Then I use UNITE PURPLE SHAMPOO for a couple minutes + that’s it!

For the technique I do a combination of baby lights (fine weave) with a medium weave so it looks more natural. When I foil around her hairline I go down to 10 volume instead of 20 because those hairs are more delicate.” Thanks Evan!

HOW OFTEN DO YOU DYE YOUR HAIR?
I try to get it done every 10-12 weeks – IDEAL, but usually that’s not realistic for me. This last time it was 4-5 months. I just embrace the roots. My hair is pretty cool so my color can complement the roots pretty well.

tip : If you pull from the other side instead of parting more towards the middle – so kinda adding a volume flip, it adds brightness or I just have to cover my roots with hats.

ARE YOU GROWING YOUR HAIR OUT?
Not intentionally. I was just too lazy to schedule an appt + now that I’m kinda past the awkward stage I’ve decided to let it keep going. I almost cut it this last time, but then didn’t. Planning to next time, but we will see.

FAVORITE PRODUCTS?
Three products I couldn’t live without is DRY SHAMPOO, DEEP CONDITIONER + TEXTURE SPRAY!

HOW DO YOU RECOVER FROM HAT HAIR?
Dry Shampoo or just wearing a hat again the next day + next.

WHAT CUT DO YOU ASK FOR?
I always go with a undercut when I have short hair. This helps the ends be more blunt.

WHAT IS AN UNDERCUT?
When my hair is short it flips out, naturally. When you under cut the under back layer are cut shorter than the top layers so the top layers can lay flat instead of flip out. Your hair dresser should know how to do this cut if you tell them.

HOW DO YOU GO TO THE GYM + NOT WASH YOUR HAIR?
I’m soooo weird I just don’t sweat, so I don’t have to worry about this. I would guess adding a dry shampoo would do the trick. But again, add dry shampoo to clean hair – so before you go to the gym! Flip your hair up so you get it on the bottom as well as back by your neck (where you would typically sweat).

FAVORITE HEAT PROTECTANT?
I don’t blow dry my hair very often but I do always use this
Redken Heat Re-Styling Technology. I apply it the first time I curl my hair after each wash (if I’m blow drying it). I WOULDN’T recommend using it every time you use heat, just the first time after each wash. It helps give volume to your hair as well as keeping it safe from heat.

I also love the Color Wow Coconut Infused Dream Cocktail. Utah is really dry so this helps bring my straw like dry hair back to life. Only use it if you’re using heat.

WHAT DRY SHAMPOO DO YOU USE?
For a spray, hands down my favorite is this
$2 SUAVE BOTTLE. If you don’t want to use a spray I also really like PLAYA (similar to bumble and bumble) gives more body to the roots + smells so good! This is a dry shampoo replacement with cleaner ingredients.

HOW DO YOU HAVE SO MUCH VOLUME?
I have really fine hairs, but it is really dense – I have a loooot of hair so that helps. But one big thing to not weigh your hair down is not using a conditioner or just adding a small drop through the ends (don’t go into your roots). I shampoo my hair twice, condition once + then use a deep conditioner every couple weeks.

tip : After washing my hair, I spray a detangling spray into my hair (I like this one + this) and then sleep on it wet + DO NOT BRUSH it until the morning.
