Stepping into this new year with lots of thoughts running through my mind. What to focus on + where we can help the boys succeed the most. One thing that keeps coming back to me is technology. Feels a bit inevitable.

We want to expose our kids to technology + let them learn from it, but we also know how quickly the internet or use of technology can turn into a not so great tool. We’ve chosen as a couple to focus on creating healthy habits with technology right here in our home, rather than letting the boys figure it out elsewhere. Allowing them to use it + helping guide them into making good choices with it on their own. A tricky balance, right?

When I first heard about Be Internet Awesome, I wondered how it would go over! Basically Google has gamified healthy digital habits. The Be Internet Awesome game helps your kids be safe + smart online explorers by covering the five areas of internet awesomeness: SMART | ALERT | KIND | STRONG | BRAVE

The boys get all wide eyed at new games + they’ve had a blast. I love that setting up your family for technology success doesn’t have to be hard, it can literally be a game. Happy they are understanding it a little better. You can play + learn more here.

You can also use Family Link to connect your families digital experience. We set some rules, with check in + screen time limits + google Family Link helps keep us on track. I also love that I can check what apps they are spending time in + track location from any iOS device. I feel like this will come in nice + handy when they are teenagers. Learn more about Family Link here. #parentwin

We’re working on training our minds to be intentional during family time. I’m just as guilty as they are when wanting more screen time + I think it’s great to check in not only on the kids but also Jon + I.

Here’s the 4 goals we’re focusing on this year for technology:
