Thanksgiving Traditions + Dressing for the Occassion with Marks & Spencer

Thanksgiving is truly my F A V O R I T E holiday of all.

I do my best to practice gratitude in my every day, but gathering with the ones I love most makes my heart fill to the very tip-top. We hope to raise strong boys with grateful hearts + reflecting as a family on what is most important is pretty special! This year we’re sharing our Thanksgiving style and traditions with Marks & Spencer.  From the fuzzy bear backpack Jack’s obsessed with to my new favorite coat, they have become our families go to for stylish, beautifully crafted wardrobe essentials. They add hundreds of new items to their website every week that are perfect to dress up the whole family for a holiday or a weekend cuddling at home.

Plus, it’s a fun excuse to dress up the fam + create some fun holiday looks!

Because both of our families are local, we decide which side of the family we are going to be spending the weekend with + go from there.

We used to try to see both families on larger holidays but decided spending the day driving in the car wasn’t the most valuable way to spend our time. Can I get an amen? What does your Thanksgiving look like?

So we swap out every other year with where we go to for dinner.

We are able to spend Thanksgiving with my family this year. I have 3 younger sisters, one older brother + 6 nieces + nephews on my side. My sweet Grandma fixes alllll of the cousins dinner, just like we did growing up. Weird to get with cousins + see our kids playing because I think I speak for the most of us in saying we still feel about that old in life. 🙂  I am looking forward to Grandma’s yummy dinner + the guys playing football.

This will also be our first year FRIENDSGIVING.
Our friends are like family to us + we can’t wait to tale a turn hosting them all in our house someday. Big dreams from our 2 bedroom apartment.

If I could describe the one thing I go for when choosing my clothes for Thanksgiving, it would be C O Z Y!

Jon is an incredible help when it comes to getting the boys ready. It’s fun that they are all good at doing their own hair now. Events like this, I just set their clothes on the banister outside of their bedroom + Juan picks up the rest.

I am always on the hunt for comfortable pieces for the boys with simple patterns. I’ve raved about M&S outerwear for a few seasons now. Comfort, quality + price!

THANKSGIVING TIP: always leave room for the post-dinner food baby.

I tend to aim for minimal pieces that go with multiple outfits! Basic topped with fun! I found these platinum studded earrings, simple jewlery like this silver necklace, or these gorgeous cube-drop earrings. I like to be able to play on the ground with the kids + not feel like my outfit is getting in the way. I think I’m secretly still a tomboy at heart. I used to take my brother’s basketball jerseys in my backpack in 2nd grade and change out of my clothes before school. Then put my other outfit on before going home.

I get asked all the time where I get my style inspiration from + it’s hands down my mom. She’s the most hip, down to earth fashionista I have ever known. I think the sweetest part of the picture is that she’d most likely tell you her mother is her fashion icon. FULL CIRCLE.

Mom always taught me that true beauty lives on the inside. She showed me first hand through her example + I didn’t realize it till I was older. I love that! It makes me love her style even more. She keeps it simple + classy, yet not too over the top. The perfect balance of mother + timeless fashion all wrapped into one beautiful soul.

If there’s one thing I pay attention to it’s T E X T U R E – it’s everything this time of year. We live in Utah where the weather changes every other day. I do my best to layer up + keep warm, but still be put together beneath so that I’m able to take off my jacket whenever, ya know? Invest in a good peacoat or trenchcoat + you’ll have it for years!

And it doesn’t end once the sun sets on Thanksgiving Day!

Since becoming a shop owner myself, the day after Thanksgiving is not quite the same as it used to be. I launched my hat shop on Black Friday 3 years ago. It’s fun to look back on how far we’ve come. I would much rather stay home in comfy clothes + warm socks than be out fighting crowds to save a buck or two.

A great day for Christmas Movies + hot cocoa.

I remember growing up my mom + dad would go shopping the day after Thanksgiving. We would meet them halfway through the day to pick out gifts for my siblings.

Now as a mother myself, Black Friday isn’t my scene. I would rather cozy up in comfy loungewear + put up the Christmas tree. Or bundle up + go for a ride up the mountains. We are hoping to cut down a tree of our own this year. But we miiiiiight end up at a tree lot.

I think the most important thing you can remember this Thanksgiving it to BE YOU!! When I overdress, I stress out. I don’t feel like myself. So my tips for keeping stylish for the big day + still feeling like yourself is to BE YOU! Focus more on the people you’re with rather than the outfit you’re wearing + I think you’ll go to bed with a full heart.

What am I most grateful for? My family. My sweet boys who call me Mom + the worlds most patient husband. I love my sisters + brother + in-laws all across the board. I love being able to follow my dreams + still be a mother.

xx
