Mother’s Day Sweets + Sours

Mother’s Day this year was a super sweet, but also a bit sour. Thought it might be fun to dust off the ol’ sweets + sours way of documenting to get my thoughts onto paper. I don’t sit down to write nearly enough! I’m still going strong with my morning pages. I love looking back on special occasions though, so here are a few images to go along with our Mother’s Day 2021.

SWEETS: waking up in logan | hand picked sunflowers | homemade question video’s that juan filmed of the boys + my dad | wearing my new eyelet dress | thoughtful handwritten cards from school | cousins | driving through the canyon with my feet on the dash + our kids snoozing in the back of the mini van #gratitude | jonah challenging all the adults to a four square net ball tournament | holding kona during sacrament meeting | juan’s watermelon cutting tray | mom’s thoughtful target fund | sister time | being an aunt | puzzles passed bed time | hiding in my room until the “i love my mom” song started to play + the boys sang it as i came down the stairs | new simple diamond from juan | jordan’s designed with love from jonah | cereal before bed | finding a new life coach | cousins walking to primary for the first week back + finding me after with handmade MD cards

now, the sours. because I think they are important to document + just as fun to look back on.

SOURS: waking up to the kids watching youtube | missing mo by a day | feeling sad for mother’s who are reading/writing a different story on mother’s day | not prioritizing time to share a few snippets to my own feed | forgetting my regular bra | being late for church | sore throat + foggy mind | leaving logan | pulling off my dip nails | cold sweat anxiety in the middle of the night | feeling too behind in house posts to catch everyone up | forgetting the clothes i needed to remember for church outfits | missing grandma larsen + grandma webb | the drive back home + saying goodbye to cousins

Being a Mom looks a little different to all of us. The meaning of “MOTHER” hits different as well. But there is joy to be found everywhere. That’s the sweet + sour of life. I hope you feel loved + appreciated, wherever you find yourself in life right now. You’ve got a friend in me! xx
