Here’s the thing. . . the older I get, the more I’ve learned to tune into my own gas tank. I’ve also learned that I don’t always have to hop a plane to see new places or push reset. I have learned that I need to protect my “energy” + recharge it when it dips lower. I give give give all that I have to everyone around me. I’ve had to learn to love this about myself, but also had to learn how to recharge + proactively keep my own tank full. The OUTDOORS are a big key to my happiness.
Maybe it makes more sense now why I told Jon that all I wanted for my birthday was a staycation? No better place to recharge than in my own backyard! We booked a weekend stay at Snowbird. We wouldn’t have had to even leave the resort if we didn’t want to. We did though 🙂 We went snowboarding, snowshoeing + hot-tubbing. There is no better time to visit Utah than in the winter, but if you hate being cold like me – you gotta get creative + DRESS WARM! Having the cold weather gear is key. Backcountry is our one stop shop for the best quality pieces to keep us warm + be able to hand down from boy to boy. Cold weather gear can be expensive, but when you invest in the right pieces – they really should last you many many years down the road!
We get all of our layers + ski gear from Backcountry. You’ll get 15% off your first purchase with code : GINGER (exclusions apply)
What we packed for our snowy + cozy staycation :
- The black hole Patagonia Duffles are just that! A black hole. They fit everyyything you need them to. We use them for or all of our ski gear. They’re waterproof so I don’t have to worry about them getting ruined if they get wet + they can fold into themselves so you don’t have an extra bag laying around if you need more space.
- I ordered this ALO legging + sweatshirt set from Backcountry to lounge around in. I loooove a good monochromatic set. I was able to throw my snow pants over the top easily + also wear this to the fitness center to work out.
- SOREL BOOTS – I’ve had these boots for a couple of winter’s now + they are still in superb shape. I love how soft + comfy + also breathable they are. They’re easy to dress up or down. They run TTS.
- These UGG slippers were also perfect for traveling + walking around the lodge. This is my first pair with actual backs on them. My others are all slip ons, I have loved the hard waterproof sole. I find myself throwing them on for carpool more often than not. They are super warm – my feet never got cold!
- This knit UGG beanie is warm + trendy. I usually choose brown, but I liked the gray one better in this waffle knit.
- I’ve had my eye on this long Patagonia sherpa for months. I loved the neutral colors + the length especially. You stay so much warmer when your booty is covered. Learned this in Italy a few years ago 🙂 Kept me warm, even in the mountains. Be sure to snag this one quick, it’s sold out a couple times already.
- Yeti Tumbler – I take this everywhere. We had our Gigi Pip logo lazered into these for Christmas. You won’t see me without mine very often. It keeps ice for up to 4 days + will keep your cocoa warm for an entire day on the slopes.
Backcountry just opened their first pop-up shop in NYC so if you’re on the east coast go check it out on 119 Spring Street, NYC. If you’re not able to make it you can still use my code GINGER for 15% off your first purchase!
