this little bugaboo had his 6 month check up with dr lam last week. note to self: make all future appointments in the morning so that i don’t lose an entire morning to anxious, obnoxious anxiety, waiting for afternoon to roll around. they are never as bad as i imagine them to be, (with an exception to the first time he got his shots), which is relieving. he has done great every time, and this checkup was no different. he gets this toughness from his daddy i’m sure.
|| a few quick updates ||
weight- 19.2 lbs
height- 31.56 inches {89th percentile}
- he’s pretty average across the board in his stats, with an exception in the height category. his lengthy fingers and toes make us think he’ll be a tall little fella. bang-a-rang
- he’s mastered sitting up by himself. this makes playtime a lot more exciting. i’ve had fun researching toys that encourage his development, although i do miss the days nonstop cuddles and leaving him on the couch while i hurry and finish the dishes. those days are LONG gone. mister rollie pollie olie all through the house.
- he got his first “shiner” in st george. quite the booboo and learning experience for ma and pa. i’m just glad it didn’t bruise all over the place.
- poor kid’s nails are butcher knives. i still get sick to my stomach when i think of trimming his nails. good thing grandma is brave enough to clip them because i would rather hide under the crib for 48 hours than trim them. little dramatic i know, but it really scares me. i seriously can’t handle it.
- he’s addicted to his jonnyjump-up. best purchase we have made as parents. and boy it’s working wonders on his baby calves.
- not sure if it is normal how flexible he is. jon calls it broga. yoga for the bro’s, and jonah has mastered it quite gracefully.
- i love the ear to ear, toothless grin i get when i go in to his nursery in the mornings or after naptime. he lights up when i walk into the room. . .which means he recognizes me, which also means my heart skips a few beats each day. i’m obsessed with being his mama.
- i convince myself that he is teething on a regular basis, but still haven’t seen any pearly whites breaking through.
- he hates his car seat worse than i hate the fingernail clippers.
- he eats sweet potatoes when anyone but myself feeds them to him.
- he usually forgets to swallow as he inhales his rice cereal. he also gets very annoyed if you take too long in between bites. a child of my own kind.
- we had a few hard days when thrush found its way to our house. that yeesh is disgusting! dang you thrush-you stupid bully.
- he loves when we whistle for him. especially at the grocery store.
- he LOVES his highchair. he feels so big and important sitting up at our level.
- he likes to flirt with the lucky couple who sits behind us in church. such a little swooner already.
- we are still working on this schedule business. jon nor i have ever been big planning folk. we fly at the seat of our pants 98% of the time, and to be quite honest, i wouldn’t have it any other way. it works really well for us, and jonah doesn’t seem to mind.
- jonah is more ticklish than jon and i put together, and jon makes him laugh (full blown hiccup belly laugh) unlike anyone else. it’s a total giggly tickle fest every day when he gets home from work. he’s a daddy’s boy for sure.
- jonah can give kisses. melt me, how about.
this has got to be my favorite jonah phase so far. his ever growing personality develops more and more by the minute. he’s turning into a complete mini jon. so giggly and full of energy. as his darling little personality shines through, we just keep falling more in love with him. the baby is fading away one day at a time. happy half a year of life little buddy.
You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this topic to
be actually something that I think I would never understand.
It seems too complex and very broad for me. I am looking forward
for your next post, I will try to get the hang of it!
