How we learned to balance life in October

October has been one productive month at our house. We have been GETTING THANGS D-O-N-E + it just feels good. We listened to this book together at the beginning of the month + it has really helped my crazy mom-brain to balance the 897 things I put on my plate at a time. I discovered how much time I was wasting running around during the day with my head cut off trying to cater to everyone + everything. But also worrying about all that I had to get done. Did you know that’s a total time eater? So annoying!! Although I always have intentions of conquering my todo list, most of the time when I get home after errands, I find that I forgot the only thing I really needed from the grocery store. Drives me BONKERS. Such is life though, right? We sat down together, set some realistic goals AND realistic game plans + I can feel the change in my every day. Looking back it has made all the difference.

I have learned that life is pretty simple, if we want it to be. I was planning to keep my car cleaner, write in my journal at night, blog more frequently + buy some big matching bins to organize our holiday decorations a little better. My car was cleaner on the inside  not because I was a NO FOOD IN THE CAR BECAUSE MOM said so, frustrated Mom, but because we hung the shop-vac on the wall + left it plugged in so vacuuming was simp simp easy to access a couple times a week. Like, duh. Why didn’t I do this forever ago? Riggins broke off my license plate holder + my back windshield wipers snapped at the car wash, so that was kind of a bust, but the inside was still more clean. BABYSTEPS.

We also got our family pictures back from SAMI JO + I am excited to show them to you!!

I wrote a handful of updates in my journal each week, didn’t blog quite as much as I had scheduled, but I made some major headway on my new website + feel really good about it. We painted a lot of water color pictures, played store, carved pumpkins that didn’t last until halloween, took double digit trips to logan + enjoyed Halloween together as a family. I’ve never been a huge halloween lover, but I completely enjoyed it this year. Kids are magic. I’m looking forward to November, Thanksgiving + teaching the kids about what service means to me.

  1. I already think you’re wonder-mom! What a fitting costume for you! 🙂 I’m excited to see what you have in store for all of us this month!

  2. First of all, your family is so beautiful! #lifegoals !! Second, you are such a wonderful mother, Ginger, and thank you for the reminder that if we just do a little bit at a time, and do BABYSTEPS, then we’ll feel happier and won’t be running around with our heads cut off! I feel like there are so many things I need and want to do on a regular basis, but if I just tell myself to just pick a few things that REALLY need to be done, then I’m a lot happier, and a lot less stressed! Thanks for your beautiful words of wisdom 🙂 And PS, love the plus sign sheets! I have the same ones in our guest room!

  3. What an awesome challenge! I cannot wait until my boy is big enough to do things like this! I just wanted to let you know I’ve been admiring you from afar for quite some time now. I love the way you live and tell. I’m new to the blogging world and have loved to be able to anonymously get to know so many amazing women. Thank you for your pretty heart + smile. It always brightens my day!

(P.S. Chad Champlin is actually my cousin and I’ve loved inheriting Kylee into our family. You two are the cutest sisters ever.)
