Did you know I’ve officially been on Instagram for SEVEN years? Holy crap batman.
IÂ đź’›Instagram + the community that we’ve established there. It’s an outlet that has given me the opportunity to connect with rad women who are raising families + running businesses + spreading awesome messages.

I recently put out a FREE guide showing you my 5 favorite apps I use to create content that helps me better connect on Instagram + I wanted to do a quick rundown of the 5 things you can do IN Instagram to do the same.
#1: Engage + Learn More About Your Audience w/Questions
My Instagram Stories got a whole lot more interactive (+ personal) when I started using the question sticker available in Stories.
This is one of my favorite ways to connect with my community + is almost like a live Q&A.
If you run a business account, you can find out what services they need or want, what part of your business + products they’re most interested in, + you can get to know them without sending out a survey.
How to do it:
- Tap on the camera on the up on the top left of your Instagram home page
- Once your image or video has been loaded tap the sticker icon on the top right of your screen (it’s the 3rd from the right)
- Select the ‘QUESTIONS’ option + ask away!
#2:Â Be More Searchable
I don’t know how many people know this because it was news to me but did you know that the ‘name’ field on your Instagram profile is searchable?
That means that you can change it to words that highlight what you, your brand + your message is all about.
Because most people will know you by your Instagram handle, the name field is the perfect place to include important keywords + your chances of being discovered when someone searches those keywords will be much higher!
How to do it:
- Tap on “Edit Profile” on the top right of your Instagram profile
- Under your profile picture, you’ll find the “Name” field. Change the text here to include your keywords
- Once finished, tap “Done” on the top right corner of your screen
#3: More Hashtags +Â
By adding an Instagram hashtag to your story, you’re giving your content an added chance to be seen by new audiences. Most Instagram geo-location tags and hashtags have their own Stories attached to them, which means they could appear on the Explore Page.
+ if you don’t want to clutter your image with a bunch of tags, use two fingers to ‘pinch’ the text to make it smaller + place an emoji over them! Your images stay clean + you become searchable under more tags!
#4: Be Consistent w/Stories
This one is quick + simple. If you’re a “storier”, make sure you’re consistent with your stories. If you post a story every 2-3 hours, you’re more likely to stay at the front of the line at the top of your follower’s feeds.
This means that they will view you more + as a result, your content will be shown to more people! That’ll show you, freaking algorithm. WIN WIN all around.
#5:Â Link to Other Profiles or Hashtags in Your Bio
Your bio is the best place to tell people about you + anything else you have going on because it’s what people look at most! This is perfect if you have a hashtag you want your followers to explore. It’s also killer if you run another account for a business, or even better, multiple accounts!
In other words, it’s a definite must for any good profile.
When you include a “#” or “@” in your bio, it will automatically become a clickable link. Use these to guide your followers to any content you want!
All of these things can be easily implemented in your IG. They’ll help you connect + communicate on Instagram + build stronger relationships online.
Plus, features like music stickers + IGTV help you get creative + add more personality to your profile!

Hi Ginger,
I have been blessed to follow you on Instagram for a good while now and I must tell you I find you so inspiring. We are currently family planning and I’m hoping for an ounce of what you have built for your family. I just wanted to say hello and tell you to keep up the positive vibes; with so much negativity in the world it is wonderful to have something bright and happy on my feed. You are a great Momma!!!
Cheers,
