A DENIM HACK

. . . literally . . .

I was gifted these WRANGLER JEANS from Free People a few months ago. I really liked them, but never worn them because I didn’t feel like they were totally my steeze. I decided to gparrish-ify them + wahlah, we’ve got a raw hem + a pair of pants I now love to wear.

BEFORE

AFTER :

When searching for pants I don’t always want a raw hem or a distressed fit, but certain colors + washes definitely benefit – especially coming into spring.

HOW TO :

STEP 1 : FIND A PAIR OF PANTS YOU LOVE WITH A REGULAR HEM (or raw hem + save yourself the work)

STEP 2 : cut one leg just a little above the seam line. I start small so I don’t overdo it. Try them on after each cut + continue to cut just a small amount until you have the length you love.

STEP 3 : fold over your pants evenely – make sure EVERYTHING is matched up + start to cut the exact length following the guide of leg 1.

STEP 4 : you’ve got a raw hem! easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy!

If you try this on a pair of your jeans, make sure to tag me on Instagram. I’d love to see the before + afters.

xx.

PSA : SUNGLASS DUPE ALERT!

A few months ago I splurged on my first expensive pair of glasses – KREWE! I friggen love em + they were worth the splurge. But they are also the only glasses I keep in a case + am so scared to lose. That’s why I like buying cheaper options – no stress when you lose them or scratch them.

I wanted a similar pair that I could take out adventuring, swimming this summer, etc. without being worried about losing them. Found these DUPES on Amazon – they’re awesome + only $23. The quality of my Krewe glasses can’t be beat, but if you’d just like something for the looks or a no stress pair I’d recommend these!

While I was searching for these dupes, I found some RAY-BAN DUPES as well. They looks just like my ray-bans, but I actually like to sizing of the dupes better. You can see the side by side here :

I love hearing all about bathroom do’s + don’ts from y’all. Just shared a question on Instagram seeing if you’d put a urinal in your boys bathroom – can’t wait to see what people say! One thing I love is a bath + you betchyaaaaa booty a master bath was definitely on my do list! I haven’t had a good one in a few years.

spoiler alert : I share a bathroom with 4 boys with a shower | bath combo that’s pretty tight.

I think I have PTSD from this condo + we ended up only doing one shower/bath combo in the new house. One bathroom with a shower curtain! That’s it! At one point we thought about waterproofing the boys bathroom – all tile. Think about hosing that thing down instead of cleaning it! #MOMWIN If you have boys you know there’s pee everywhere, or at least I hope I’m not the only #boymom feeling like this.

The image above is some inspo for the bathrooms in our house. Excited to see if we stick with the plan or end up switching it up! Stay tuned! You can see more of our bathroom inspo on this Pinterest Board.

Valentine’s Day 2020

I loved how simple our Valentine’s Day was this year. Our first time really making a box for Jonah + it’s a dang good thing Jon is crafty (or innovative for lack of a better word) because I ordered a kit from Target + it wasn’t good enough. HA!! I’ve shared this before, but my Mom really made holidays special for us growing up. She always made the little things special. I love that about her, still to this day.

  • Rigg asked me to help walk his cards in to school + he didn’t have anything to carry. πŸ™‚
  • Jack hiding the rest of the keychains so he could keep one for himself
  • Balloons from Harmon’s Jack picked for big brothers
  • Helping with the class party in Jonah’s class
  • Going to Sonic The Hedgehog + Rigg snoring when he fell asleep
  • Dinner with Tony + Charlotte
  • Massages with headphones
  • Allstar weekend + the dunk contest
  • Baby Roczen
  • Building Lego’s with Jack

I don’t want to take for granted a single day that I get to tell my boys that I love them. I’ve always felt this way – but I’m writing it down to hold myself to it. I WILL LOVE WITHOUT RESERVATIONS. No matter what. I will show them + tell them, at least once a day from here on out. I challenge you to do the same with your loved ones! xx

A birthday Staycation in Utah

THIS POST IS SPONSORED BY BACKCOUNTRY

Here’s the thing. . . the older I get, the more I’ve learned to tune into my own gas tank. I’ve also learned that I don’t always have to hop a plane to see new places or push reset. I have learned that I need to protect my “energy” + recharge it when it dips lower. I give give give all that I have to everyone around me. I’ve had to learn to love this about myself, but also had to learn how to recharge + proactively keep my own tank full. The OUTDOORS are a big key to my happiness.

ginger : beanie | jacket | sweatshirt | leggings | boots | duffle bag
jon : jacket | sweats | boots | duffle bag | backpack

Maybe it makes more sense now why I told Jon that all I wanted for my birthday was a staycation? No better place to recharge than in my own backyard! We booked a weekend stay at Snowbird. We wouldn’t have had to even leave the resort if we didn’t want to. We did though πŸ™‚ We went snowboarding, snowshoeing + hot-tubbing. There is no better time to visit Utah than in the winter, but if you hate being cold like me – you gotta get creative + DRESS WARM! Having the cold weather gear is key. Backcountry is our one stop shop for the best quality pieces to keep us warm + be able to hand down from boy to boy. Cold weather gear can be expensive, but when you invest in the right pieces – they really should last you many many years down the road!

We get all of our layers + ski gear from Backcountry. You’ll get 15% off your first purchase with code : GINGER (exclusions apply)

What we packed for our snowy + cozy staycation :

  • The black hole Patagonia Duffles are just that! A black hole. They fit everyyything you need them to. We use them for or all of our ski gear. They’re waterproof so I don’t have to worry about them getting ruined if they get wet + they can fold into themselves so you don’t have an extra bag laying around if you need more space.
  • I ordered this ALO legging + sweatshirt set from Backcountry to lounge around in. I loooove a good monochromatic set. I was able to throw my snow pants over the top easily + also wear this to the fitness center to work out.
  • SOREL BOOTS – I’ve had these boots for a couple of winter’s now + they are still in superb shape. I love how soft + comfy + also breathable they are. They’re easy to dress up or down. They run TTS.
  • These UGG slippers were also perfect for traveling + walking around the lodge. This is my first pair with actual backs on them. My others are all slip ons, I have loved the hard waterproof sole. I find myself throwing them on for carpool more often than not. They are super warm – my feet never got cold!
  • This knit UGG beanie is warm + trendy. I usually choose brown, but I liked the gray one better in this waffle knit.
  • I’ve had my eye on this long Patagonia sherpa for months. I loved the neutral colors + the length especially. You stay so much warmer when your booty is covered. Learned this in Italy a few years ago πŸ™‚ Kept me warm, even in the mountains. Be sure to snag this one quick, it’s sold out a couple times already.
  • Yeti Tumbler I take this everywhere. We had our Gigi Pip logo lazered into these for Christmas. You won’t see me without mine very often. It keeps ice for up to 4 days + will keep your cocoa warm for an entire day on the slopes.

Backcountry just opened their first pop-up shop in NYC so if you’re on the east coast go check it out on 119 Spring Street, NYC. If you’re not able to make it you can still use my code GINGER for 15% off your first purchase!

SETTING A HIGHER STANDARD OF SCENT IN OUR HOME

In 2019 I took a deep dive into studying the chemicals that are allllll around us – whoa! I’ve slowly tried changing things in our home. Doing a huge overhaul seemed wasteful + overwhelming – so I’ve been taking it a few steps at a time to weed out the bad + transition to better! I am excited to help raise awareness + partner with cleaner brands in 2020!

Although we may not be able to control the air outside our home (thanks for nothing craaazy Utah air πŸ™‚ but I do feel responsible for what we’re breathing inside our home! I am a candle snob by nature, buuuuut have been seeking out options that aren’t filled with unnecessary phthalates or dyes. BE PICKY FRIENDS!!

We’ve been trying out the new BOTANICA by Airwick line! They are setting a new standard in the home fragrance industry. All fragrances are made with exotic, natural ingredients, offering high-quality air care products inspired by nature – no phthalates or dyes!! The Caribbean Sweetgrass & Sandalwood is my favorite!

They’re sourced + packaged in a way that respects our planet!

I’ve had the Caribbean Sweetgrass and Sandalwood scent diffusing in our living room + have been super pleased with it. We get compliments whenever people come over + I love jumping on the opportunity to share what I’ve learned with anyone who will listen. πŸ™‚ I’ve heard great things about the Fresh Pineapple & Tunisian Rosemary, as well as French Lavender & Honey Blossom and Himalayan Magnolia & Vanilla – – – they are on my to try list! They’re all available in room sprays, plug ins + reeds / candles. You’ll be able to find select products at TARGET + WALMART!

I’d encourage you to take note of the things you’re using around your home! I had a follower reach out a couple of years ago when her dad passed away – they are thinking it is directly tied to the scents/candles they always had burning in their home. Absolutely heartbreaking! Awareness is key though. Let me know if you have any questions – – I am open book to the things I’ve learned.

When I first found Mango I thought for sure they were owned by Zara – they have a similar look + price point, but the quality is wayyyyy mo betta! I did an order right before Christmas + I’ve worn them all on repeat, including this quilted jacket.

The fit. The quality. The colors. 10 OUTTTTA 10!

Some of the items take a little longer to ship, I think they come from out of the country – it flagged my credit card the first time I ordered. But others only take a few days. It will usually warn you on the size page if it has extended shipping.
