twelve days of christmas

my mother, is an i n c r e d i b l e lady.
growing up i always knew i had a good mom, but it becomes more + more apparent the older i get.
she is the most genuine, kind-hearted, loving person i have ever known.
she doesn’t have a mean bone in her body + she chooses to live a positive life with our savior at the very center.
if you know her, you know how much she loves her family.
this year, she compiled a cd of our family favorite christmas songs.
i know that she appreciates beautiful music + i feel that this idea came straight from her heart.
i asked her if it would be ok to share them with you. wahooooo, she gave me the green!
so, one song – each day – until christmas arrives.
i hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

song for day one //
believe.

kyndra + ryan

this couple.
this down to earth, picture perfect, absolutely incredible couple.
i love them. truly, i do.
but i was shaking in my boots when they asked me to shoot their wedding.
i am so glad that i stepped outside of my comfort zone + went for it.
i have always loved everything about weddings. photographing one totally sealed the deal.
the love they share is very real, very natural, + it made it easy for me to capture.
they say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, right?
R I G H T.
their parent’s. their families. their niece + nephews.
such a genuine family. full of love for each other.
i was thoroughly impressed by all of them.
thanks again, kendra + ryan.
you guys are my favorite.

a letter

dear kylee webb champlin,

it’s 12:45 + i miss you.
you are the funniest person i know in real life.
remember when we both lived in SLC last summer?
the summer where you taught jonah how to walk + we hiccuped nonstop?
i wish we could go back.
it’s 12:48 + i still miss you.
maybe i will see you today, maybe i won’t.

sweet dreams,

state champs

i spent my childhood years at the “ball field” as grandma webb used to call it.
doesn’t matter what type of field or court – we were the first ones there + the last ones to leave.
started with my mom + dad.
then on to cody.
then me.
then kylee.
then dannika.

+ last but not least, morgan.
_______________________________________________
crazy to think that mo is a senior in high school this year.

i’ll be honest, my sisters dominate in anything with a ball.
shamefully, i am the weakest link. i have mastered the hit + run though.
{i also got jon out in lightening at our singles ward fhe + he still can’t believe it}
but you go ahead + ask any sister // they’ll tell you i can trash talk my way to victory.
every single time.
i am formally known to them as the “intimidation station”.

i flex my muscles a lot. but that’s beside the point.

morgan, that volleyball all star, won the state championship a month or so ago.
i can’t really put words to the feelings of that day. it was picture perfect.
after the game, jd took his cell phone to mo + had dannika on the other end.
dan + mo, only a year apart in age, have been through every step of the road together.
they are very best friends! like, the very very best.
it was pretty hard for dan not to be there, but she anxiously watched those final points from her laptop in her dorm.
the building went quiet when he handed her the phone.
you can imagine the emotion. the love. the excitement.

not a dry eye in sight.

+ then there’s my parents.
they have supported every single one of us all along the way.
they taught us the importance of supporting each other.
we A L L went to A L L of each other games. home or away. i see the power behind it now that i am a mother.
they sacrificed so much so that we could live our dreams at such a young age.

the joy in their eyes was very surreal + very deserved.

we are so proud of you, morgan webb. no one deserves it more than you!
thank you for a bringing all of us home a state championship.
sure can’t wait to borrow your ring.

jenson takes first

ya know a month or so ago when it snowed like crraaaaaaayyy?
jenson had his championship football game that very same day.
it was a total white out + they s t i l l played.
i was thoroughly impressed, but you betcha booty that i’m asking santa for some new snow boots for christmas.
girls celebrated with pedicures || boys celebrated with james bond.
we rendezvoused at tgi fridays + called it a day.
proud of you, brother j.

the collard’s

i adore these people.
our kids are pals, we believe in the same things,
we enjoy being parents + we know which streets in the ave’s have the least amount of stop signs.
i mean . . . it just works. ya know?
friends like this make SLC feel like home.

happy feet

jonah is h i l a r i o u s.
he runs never walks + has me out of breath constantly.
he knows how to make me laugh, keeps me on my toes + lives to entertain everyone + everything.
i’ll admit it, i am excited to put him down at 8 PM + he is just as excited to go.
but i tell ya, when 9:30 rolls around we miss him.
like, really miss him.
it has turned into a silly game of who is going to give in {or admit it} first?
F A C T : we sneak him into our bed once a week. sometimes more.
last night he woke up in the process + just stared at us like we were crazy.
which we probably are, but i don’t care.
it’s hard for me to remember what life was like without jonah in it.

a not so little secret

when i first started blogging 1 year 8 months + 11 days ago,
i was certain of a few of things :

>> i needed a way to document the little things in jonah’s life,
>> i love taking pictures
>> jon had me convinced that all the cool entrepreneur wife/mom’s blog.

so there i went, i started a blog.
but even i was bored with it after the first month.
let me tell you though, when jonah arrived, it was a new ball game.
i had a purpose. a reason.
i had a genuine passion for it + i will be the first to admit, i was {and still am} very proud of jonah.
we love him! he is our everything! he made us better + made us complete.
i can’t wait to go back + show him how much he has grown.
how much we loved him then + how much we love him now.

a couple of weeks ago i got an email from jillian capewell {editor for babble.com}
informing me that babble had chosen me for TOP 20 F A V O R I T E baby photo blogs for 2012.
whaaaaat?
yes, i cried.
{probably didn’t help that i had just finished shooting my first wedding for the most perfect couple i have ever met}
i am truly honored.

only all of my favorite bloggers.
all being incredibly talented mother’s who inspire me with their unique style + love for their children.

i have grown to love blogging. i enjoy sharing glimpses of our life with you.
i also adore all of the friends that i have made from doing it.
i have learned lots about myself as a mama + myself as . . . myself?

i am most honored that my love for motherhood + for my beautiful son, shines in a way that another mother found inspiring.
what greater compliment can i ask for?
thank you babble, i am very flattered.

a love with no boundaries

jonah cries when jon leaves for work + freaks out the minute he gets home.
he sprints to the ball basket to get his ball + then to the door as fast as humanly possible.
he yells dada from his crib to let him know he’s up + ready to play ball in morning.
they always hide my keys from me + laugh outrageously when they take off my socks.
they shovel our driveway + sneak dr pepper from the fridge when i am not looking.
jonah looks better {and gets the most compliments} when jon dresses him.
+ my most favorite of all – jon decided jonah needed his very own treehouse over the weekend so he is building him one.

i’m sure you get the picture.
i am smitten.
they are my world.
