HOOVER FOR THE WIN

This post is sponsored by Home Depot

A little precursor:  we sold our house quickly + didn’t have anywhere lined up. We had a couple of places in mind but weren’t sure what would be open when we sold. SO we looked through our ideal location + they had one opening. It smelled clean, looked clean, only had 2 bedrooms, but we figured we’d only be here a year max, so quickly signed on the dotted line without looking back. THENNNN the clean smell wore off. My dad noticed it as we were moving in, he’s allergic. They came, replaced the carpet + since then, we’ve had it cleaned 3 times, once with black lights to see what is really going on. NOTHING! Ha! But as it is heating up outside, the smell is heating up inside, so we decided it’s time to take matters into our own hands! We did our Pet carpet cleaning homework + found that this HOOVER pet plus carpet cleaner is the best bang for your buck! AND sold in store!! (hashtag too impatient for shipping) as well as perfect for busy Mom’s? SOLD! I can do this!
This really has become a family affair. OPERATION CAT STENCH ELIMINATOR.

Be sure to pick up the Detergent. It’s super simple to mix one side with water, half with solution. No mess, no fuss. We went through + tried to pinpoint the strong points. This corner where the light hits in particular. We saturated it  + Jonah scrubbed like a crazy person to pull it to surface.
If I can drive this thing, you can drive this thing!
HASHTAG: yikes! So simple to access the dispose of the filth + clean it up though. I’m super stoked we won’t have to call the carpet cleaners (or Jon to come take care of it) every month. I was honestly shocked at how easy it was to maneuver. We soaked the carpets realllllll good before we left for Hawaii. I’ve got a good feeling about this, but we’ll cross our fingers in the mean time! xx

Celebrating Mother’s Day Early

Have you ever heard me say “4 boys, 1 mom”? these are the words that came out of Jonah’s mouth when we had our gender reveal party for Jack. And when I look back at photos we snap, I find myself saying the same thing! FOUR boys, ONE mom. I love being a mother. THEIR Mother.

We will be in Hawaii pretty much right up until Mother’s Day. We celebrated a bit early with a surprise  scavenger hunt picnic! ENDING with  the prettiest bouquet of roses from 1-800-Flowers.com I have ever laid my eyes on. Did I cry? Of course I cried. It seems like these appreciative holiday’s always come at the most perfect times! I recently heard that Mother’s Day is the number ONE floral gift giving holiday?I Flowers will forever remind me of my own mother. She has the most beautifully curated yard + lawn you’d ever see. Which to me, is a direct reflection of her heart! Lucky to be loved by, who I feel, is the most perfect example of what a mother should be. My mom is my best friend!
A bit more about 1-800-Flowers.com because we have been so impressed with their customer service (obsessed with service). You know those companies that have employees that reflect their team mission? You can feel it, this is how they are. They patiently provide customers with thoughtful ways to express themselves + connect with the important people in their lives. No wonder they’ve  been an industry leading source for Mother’s Day gifts for MORE than 40 YEARS.

Jon has been good at the small things since day one. I need to share our love story soon, because it’s a good one. We are knee deen in the “MOTHER” chapter of our lives +  I couldn’t love these sweet humans more than I already do!  I cry about wanting a girl too often, but quite honestly, my 3 beautiful sons are helping their dad take great care of me!!

I hope our Mom’s enjoy their flowers from 1-800-flowers.com as much as I am. I’m not sure what I had in mind – – – I mean I have received flowers in the mail in the past, but this is different. Not a big box that you have to go find a vase for, nor cut the stems just right. It literally gets hand delivered by a local florist in a beautiful vase – COMPLETELY READY TO GO!

Lucky in love with my very best friends! xx
Happy early Mother’s Day to my friends all over the world! IT TAKES A VILLAGE! Love you all! xx

Shopping at Old Navy as a Boy Mom

I’m honored to be styling with Old Navy the next couple of months.
I grew up in Cache Valley, UT + still remember when Old Navy opened.
It was the first big deal store I can really remember
+ once I found out about Santa (6th grade)  it was our go to on Black Friday
for Christmas Eve jammies.
A good 20 years later with 3 boys + a husband of my own – – – here I am.
Honored, truly! Continue reading “Shopping at Old Navy as a Boy Mom”

No Agenda Weekend

This weekend was easy. Not easy like squeezy, easy like no plans. SIMPLE.
It rained a bunch, that ruined our Lagoon plans.
But having no where to go sure felt nice. || OUTFIT LINKS ||
JONAH:
TIE | BUTTON UP | SKINNY JEANS | SHOES
JACK: SWEATER (on sale for $6) | JEANS | LOAFERS
JON: BLAZER | SLACKS | SHOES
GINGER: DRESS | SHOES old SIMILIAR | LIPSTICK
RIGG: BLAZER | BUTTON SHIRTPANTS | SHOES | BACKPACK

It’s fascinating to watch which trees bloom in our neighborhood first.
I bought a bunch of pre-cut fruit at Smith’s when the boys dropped me off to run in for milk.
No idea how happy it made me until I didn’t have to cut a lick of it for Sunday dinner. We were on time for Church, but we forgot it was Fast Sunday. Whoops.
We had the most bomb Roast we’ve had in a looong time.
Not too dry + the carrots to potatoes ratio was spot on. BOOYA!
We started this no eating in the car thing + it’s seriously
cut back on our eating out issue basically in half? INSTANTLY!
Didn’t realize we aren’t as addicted to fast food as I thought?
MORE the connivence of being on the go with a car to prove it. #momlife

Sick family household update + ramblings on life

It happened. I did it. I had my first faking sick to stay home from school experience. Brought back too many memories of my own failed attempts growing up. Cue Sacrament meetings spent trying to convince Mom if I didn’t go get a drink right then my throat was going to fall out of my body. She never gave in. EVER. I swore I’d never do that to my own kids – – – but I guess that’s just being a mom. 🙂 Over time I’ve had a few moments I felt like I was becoming a parent + really finding my groove. Not all messes are easily cleaned up by the WaterWipes we buy in bulk. IE: our finger painting shenanigans below. Man they come in handy.

Rigg got strep a couple of weeks back + we’ve slowly passed it through the family. Jack is just finishing up. It gets passed around + around + around. Mo works at Instacare + she warned me about this. The sharing of the dang STRAWS will be the death of us. I buy WaterWipes in bulk + keep a pack in each main location so I don’t have to lug them around all day every day. One in the van, one in the diaper bag, one in the bedroom, one in the kitchen, etc. I’m all about that Mom Hack. In fact, WaterWipes contain 99.9% water & a drop of fruit extract and are the World’s Purest Baby Wipes, which I feel is a metaphor for how I try to share my life with you guys on here – – -pure, stripped back + sometimes helping to clean up the messes of motherhood.

I’ll hand it to him, when screen time isn’t an option, Jonah comes up with the most random balllllin (Jon’s words) ideas. He was jazzed to race his laundry basket down the block with Siri on the timer. ‘Twas all fun + games until the wheels buckled on us. Wooooof.

Brace yourself, the next half of the blogpost is brought to you by lack of sleep, a humbled heart + a mother who is just trying her best to be a good human. Even with our boys growing up + not really being a “new” mom anymore, I am constantly learning things that I hadn’t learned with each boy.  Life is full of moments that make me feel like I am a being born as a parent again, which really relates to the message behind WaterWipes. “When a baby is born, a parent is born. You guys can check out their awesome video here.

I keep things pretty surface level around here. But if there’s something I’ve learned over the years, it’s power in vulnerability. This isn’t really a secret, but it’s something that has really helped me work through some sticky stuff in life + I’m happy to report that I’m really feeling like I’m getting somewhere. I feel more comfortable in my own skin than I ever have in my whole life.  I’ve been working with the world’s most incredible life coach to develop tips for myself to not be swallowed by my feelings. Or lack thereof. Without getting too deep into the why’s, I want to focus on Jonah. Gosh I love that kid. I can’t type without crying. We schedule meetings + conversations while J is in school, but he caught the tail end on the way home from last week  + I’m still a bit torn on a couple of things:
1. Do you talk about hard things in front of your kids? With your kids? Or is personal life personal?
2. Do you think you should?
Gahh maybe don’t answer either of those – – – mostly just food for thought.

“I’ll be your friend if yours aren’t nice.” JONAH age 6

He woke up yesterday + that was the first thing he said to me. I loved him for it, I love him for it, + I want to remember it forever. He’s asked me once a day if “I’ve done something nice for a friend yet?”  Which is interesting because I don’t necessarily ask my kids this per say? But I did have a heart-to-heart with him after he overheard the conversation I just mentioned after school.  He recognized that my feelings were hurt + I guess came to the conclusions that the quickest way to make your feelings feel better, is to go help brighten someone else’s day? Like duh.
BUT IS HE OLD ENOUGH TO PUT THE PIECES TOGETHER?
Probably. But I refuse to take credit here. His heart is in a place where I strive to live my life. His lens sees the simple meanings. His lens is always pure.
Motherhood sure is beautiful. But how the heck am I supposed to get it right when I have my own crap to work through? Maaany hats, I tell you what.

That’s enough unloading for today. But the one other thing that I’m certain about at this point in my life is this: Jack’s rat tail. That thing makes us smile all day long
Thanks for being here, thanks for listening. Welllll, reading. Hope you always know how much I appreciate you!

xx, Ginger

Denim for the Family

Marks + Spencer is becoming my go to for staple family items. You remember Rigg’s snowsuit? I feel like I’ve told over half of the mountain where to buy it by now. 🙂

The weather has been a dream + we’ve been spending lots of time
at the Castle Park.

Here is the address for those wanting to go explore:
1105 Nicholls Rd, Fruit Heights, UT 84037
Take the trail down below the park + let the kids run freeeeee! I hear it’s absolutely insaaaane in the fall when the trees are exploding with colors.

We finally took Jon + he’s as determined as I am to
re-create this environment in our new backyard.
We made sure to find a lot with lots of overgrown trees + this hideaway makes me giddy!!

women’s jeans | boy’s jeans

I’m a fan of skinny jeans on boys.
The boys seem to agree, because the one time I ordered Jonah some straight (not skinny) jeans, he thought they were girls pants. Hahahha.
Here are a few favorites that we have ordred:

M&S is running a Friends + Family 20% off promotion Feb 15 – 19.
Now is your time to stock up, or try Marks for the first time! Be prepared to be blown away by how quick their shipping is!!

After pouring over your hashtags for days + trying to come up with something witty on my own, we are keeping simple.
Everyone makes a big deal out of little things like hashtags for building a home, right?! STOP IT, GP.

Had to get every other possibility out on the table, then bring it right back home.
It just feels right.  🙂 Thanks for your help guys!

Young Love

HAPPPPY NEW YEAR!!
Can you believe these little groms made it to midnight to ring in the New Year last night?
We even did a fake ball drop around 9:30.

We were a little nervous to break in their boards for the first time on 6 hours of sleep – – –  uhh hello, they ARE NATURALS. But wait. Why am I surprised again?!? They are Jon Parrish offspring. Sometimes I forget how humble he is. Thrilled I got 2 seasons of skiing with these sweeties before they officially turned to the dark side.  Continue reading “Young Love”

Home for the Holidays with a Gift Guide

Our “inside” looks different this year. I keep finding myself missing “HOME”.
Squished between our new home + a temporary 2 bedroom apartment without any real roots in the ground. Feels different.
I’ve been trying to think of a better word to describe it, but I can’t quite put my finger on it.
We really are so grateful, I don’t mean to complain. We have healthy energetic kids + a warm place to sleep at night. Many blessings!
We are holding strong to wherever we are TOGETHER, is Home!
And really getting motivated to get our buns into gear so we can be in our house before next Christmas 🙂

You’ve heard me cheer Mark’s + Spencer from the rooftop.  Thought it would be fun to put together a gift guide with some of our favorite family pieces that have made our home festive!

They have great priced stocking stuffers + the cutest beanie mitten sets you’ve ever seen.

Beanie Mitten Set
Navy Pom
STRIPED

I’ve always been drawn to the cute felt ornaments for our tree, but since having kids, it makes sooo much more sense to me now! 🙂 I snagged them 3 for 2.
Here are a few of our favorites: FOX | POLAR BEAR

I like unique little games, gizmo’s + gadgets.
PINBALL | HARMONICA | BINGO GAME
I hope Tanner doesn’t look at this because we are totally exploiting his Christmas gift here.  HAHA whoops.

Da pom on the beanies! I just can’t quit it! I love that little poof as it bobbles around when he walks!

I am kinda picky with my jammies. They have to be butter or else I’m claustrophobic in 2 seconds. I sleep with socks + always kick them off by morning. Here is a link for my nightgown + here is link for my robe! ZIPPPPER! I thought I was a robe connoisseur, but this is my first with a zipper. Can’t beat the prices at M&S.
WRAPPING PAPER BUNDLE
PINBALL MACHINE
GLASS BAUBLE
BUS BUS BUS 🙂
We have London near the top on our Bucketlist so these baubles realllly stood out to me!

Flannel for Dad! Jon loves their fitted shirts + their casual ones too!

Jack took a tumble down our stairs over the weekend, so seeing him smile has been a bonus. The brothers have been doting over him like crazy.

Rigg’s sweat suit (that actually tightens in the pants). Size up!

Mark’s & Spencer is uniquely curated + full of options for the whole fam. Plus, I love their lightening fast shipping – – – way less stressful preparing for the holidays! xx
